Entering EOB Dates

EOB is an acronym for Explanation of Benefits. This is standard terminology for the report you get accompanying payment or denial of insurance claim benefits.

When you enter a payment, the EOB dates are entered automatically by the program using the payment date. However, when you get an EOB for denied benefits there is no payment to enter.

The THERAPIST comes to your rescue by making the task extremely simple. Highlight the service for which benefits have been denied and click on the Enter Denied EOB button (version 2.0.010 and later). Accept or change the date, select the payer from the drop down list, and enter an optional statement comment and your done.

If you have a version of The THERAPIST before 2.0.010 but after 1.0.022, it's only a little harder. Edit the service and select the Money tab. Select the appropriate payer tab and enter the EOB date. Save the service then, while it is still highlighted, click on the View Claims button. For each claim listed, edit it and enter the EOB date.

If you have a version before 1.0.022, edit the service and select the Money tab. Select the appropriate payer tab and check the EOB check box. There is no EOB date here. Save the service then, while it is still highlighted, click on the View Claims button. For each claim listed, edit it and enter the EOB date if there is one or check the EOB check box.
